1. 2012 CB Series special against Sri Lanka (133*)

Although Virat Kohli has scored as many as 8 centuries against his favorite rival Sri Lanka, it was this 133 not out in Hobart that really paved his way to becoming an ODI giant. Along with senior batsman Gautam Gambhir, he helped India crosses the winning line of 321 in just 36.4 overs. The highlight of the innings was his superb display of batsmanship against the mighty Lasith Malinga.

Kohli’s sublime form continued in 2013 as he hammered Pakistani bowling attack to the floor with his highest score — 148-balls 183. India was chasing a huge total of 331 and the run machine’s knock made sure his team crossed that line comfortably.

If people had any doubt about Virat Kohli’s big-hitting abilities in T-20 cricket, 2016 was the year that established him as a 3-dimensional batsman. Apart from ruling the Indian Premier League (IPL) with 4 centuries and over 900 runs, Virat was in superb form in the 2016 World Cup. Riding on King Kohli’s unbeaten 82, Team India sealed the semifinal spot.

5. Burying the English Ghosts in 2018 (149)

After an unforgettable series in England in 2014, this was not going to be easy for Virat Kohli to overpower the mighty English attack. But he did. Indian captain showed the world that he can dominate even the likes of Stuart Broad and James Andersom in his prime days. King Kohli’s 149 was a testament the emergence of an Indian player who can score even on foreign pitches at will.
