New Delhi: Taiwan (Republic of China) is doing every bit to come closer to the adversaries of the People’s Republic of China. In its bid to begin direct diplomacy with India, the South China Sea island-nation is set to host a mega Diwali celebration this year, as per the reports of WION. The show will be sponsored by the Taiwanese government. It is also learnt that key ministers and government representatives, including Taiwan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Tien Chung Kwang, will be present during the ceremony.

Where will the Diwali Celebration in Taiwan take place?

The Diwali celebration will take place in Taipei — the capital city of Taiwan. Organized by Taipei India Music and culture centre and Indians in Taiwan group, the celebration of Diwali in China’s closest nodus state is sure to hurt the dragon.

In recent times, India and Taiwan have come immensely closer on various fronts. In fact, public opinions in both countries have changed completely in favour of each other. Although India doesn’t recognize Taiwan officially, MPs from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) attended the swearing-in ceremony of the Taiwanese President, Tsai Ing-wen. On Taiwan National Day, there had been a huge support from Indian people, making the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese Embassy in Delhi angry.

President Tsai Ing-wen has praised India and its culture many times in the last few months, showing how desperately she wants India to embrace Taiwan. China has been a problem for both India and Taiwan as Communist government is poking India’s nose with a massive military presence on the line of actual control (LAC) and the Chinese jets breaching the Taiwan strait median line.
