PM Modi Will Flag off MV Ganga Vilas Today
The flag-off ceremony will be in the presence of Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways – Sarbananda Sonowal, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath, besides other Ministers and senior officials from various Ministries & Departments.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the world’s longest river cruise, ‘Ganga Vilas,’ from Varanasi to Dibrugarh via Bangladesh today. The cruise ship will travel 3200 kilometres in 50 days, going through 27 river systems in India and Bangladesh, and will allow travellers to see over 50 architecturally significant areas, including world heritage sites.
The MV Ganga Vilas will be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Varanasi on January 13 and reach Dibrugarh in Assam on March 1. Tickets for the cruise are priced at Rs 12.59 lakh each, according to government sources. The cruiser will have three decks and 18 suites, which can house 36 tourists. The first batch of tourists will be from Switzerland. The 62-metre-long ship will be equipped with pollution-free systems and noise control technology.
MV Ganga Vilas Route
Set to sail from Varanasi, the cruise ship, MV Ganga Vilas, will cover 3,200 km over 51 days, crossing 27 river systems and several states before ending its journey at Dibrugarh. The voyage is packed with visits to 50 tourist spots, including World Heritage spots, national parks, river ghats, and major cities like Patna in Bihar, Sahibganj in Jharkhand, Kolkata in West Bengal, Dhaka in Bangladesh and Guwahati in Assam.
