Chennai Third Vande Bharat Will Start Next Week

It’s been 4 months since the launch of Chennai’s second Vande Bharat Express. Southern Railway zone is now all set to likely launch Chennai third Vande Bharat Express train by next week.

Currently, Chennai operates two Vande Bharat Express trains, serving the routes from MGR Chennai Central to Mysuru and MGR Chennai Central to Coimbatore. Chennai First Vande Bharat Express train commenced its service between MGR Chennai Central and Mysuru on November 11, 2022. This route spans a distance of 497 km and is covered in a travel time of 6 hours and 30 minutes, achieving an average speed of 79 km/h. Chennai’s first Vande Bharat stop at MGR Chennai Central, Katpadi Junction and KSR Bengaluru City Junction and Mysuru Junction.

The Second Vande Bharat train service in Chennai, connecting Chennai and Coimbatore, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 8, 2023, at the Dr MGR Ramachandran Chennai Central Railway Station. Chennai’s second Vande Bharat train stop at Puratchi Thalaivar Dr. M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station, Salem Junction, Erode Junction, Tiruppur and Coimbatore Junction. This Vande Bharat covers a distance of 495 km in a travel time of 5 hrs 50 mins with an average speed of 80 km/h. The Maximum Permissible Speed (MPS) is 130 km/h on this route.

Chennai Third Vande Bharat Express Train Route

The upcoming Chennai Third Vande Bharat Express Train is slated to traverse a distance of 652 km, journeying from Chennai to Tirunelveli. This train route holds particular significance as it will furnish daytime travel choices for several districts within Tamil Nadu. Most of the stations on this route will get their first Vande Bharat train.

The Chennai Third Vande Bharat Express is scheduled to make stops at four stations along its route: Villupuram Junction, Tiruchchirapli Junction, Madurai Junction, and Virudhunagar Junction. Despite covering a substantial distance of 652 km, this express train is designed to complete its journey in a remarkably efficient duration of just 8 hours.

When Will Chennai Third Vande Bharat Express Train Start?

As per media reports, the anticipated launch date for the Chennai Third Tirunelveli Vande Bharat Express is tentatively scheduled for August 25. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate this new train service, further expanding the Vande Bharat Express network and enhancing connectivity between Chennai and Tirunelveli.
