Joe Biden winning just an additional battleground state such as Nevada, where he is strong at the moment, or Georgia, where mailed votes are expected to give him an edge, ensures Donald Trump’s defeat in the US Presidential Election 2020.
New Delhi/New York: Former vice president, Joe Biden stood ahead in the race to White House on Thursday, with a few states yet to complete their vote count. In a major setback for US President Donald Trump who has 214 electoral college votes, Biden is closing in on the presidential race with 264, with 270 is the magic figure, according to the Associated Press.
Apart from probable leads in Nevada and Georgia, Joe Biden is also likely to clinch the Arizona battle. Pennsylvania is another crucial state that can give Biden a clear majority in the US Election. Speaking to reporters in Wilmington, Delaware, former vice president Joe Biden said, “The former vice president said he expects to prevail. “I’m not here to declare that we’ve won, but I am here to report that when the count is finished, we believe we will be the winners.”
Republicans and Donald Trump have opened legal fights to stop counting in at least two states
Trump has been busy on Twitter, declaring the increasing votes for Biden false and illegitimate. He also alleged his Democratic rival Joe Biden’s campaign of rigging the election. However, his allegation of having a fraud is yet to be verified. His campaign said it is suing in Pennsylvania and Michigan to stop vote counts that have been going in favour of Biden. It also filed a suit in Georgia over 53 absentee ballots it alleges were late.
High Drama amid vote counting in the Unites States
Among the most dramatic events in the US Election vote counting, Donald Trump’s false declaration of victory in Pennsylvania held all the limelight. With lakhs of mailed ballots yet to be counted across the US, including Pennsylvania, Donald Trump declaring himself winner seems nothing but a laughing stock.
All though the day, he kept tweeting about irregularities in vote counting. “How come every time they count Mail-In ballot dumps they are so devastating in their percentage and power of destruction,” the POTUS wrote on Twitter.
