Operation Sindoor and Global Recognition

Operation Sindoor targeted Pakistan-based terrorists in 2025 by sending a strong message. Colonel Qureshi briefed the world after Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri’s initial statement. Her stoic presence during those tense moments became symbolic of India’s resolve. The media appearances made her a household name across the country overnight.

She explained the military strikes with technical precision, yet in simple and understandable language. Wing Commander Vyomika Singh stood beside her, representing the Air Force proudly. Together, they showed the world that India’s military power tops gender barriers completely. Their joint briefing became one of 2025’s most-watched press talks.

The Vishisht Seva Medal recognises “distinguished service of a high order” from recipients. President Murmu’s approval came amid a larger honours list this Republic Day. Thirty Param Vishisht Seva Medals and four Uttam Yudh Seva Medals have been offered. Fifty-six Ati Vishisht Seva Medals and nine Yudh Seva Medals go to officers. Colonel Qureshi’s medal sits among 135 Vishisht Seva Medals dispensed this year.
