Patna is the most important city of Bihar. Indian railway runs four Vande Bharat Express, which connects Ranchi, New Jalpaiguri, Howrah and Lucknow. On June 27, 2023, the first Vande Bharat Express began operating between Patna and Ranchi, marking a milestone for Bihar and Jharkhand. The train stops at several stations, including Patna Junction, Gaya Junction, Koderma Junction, Hazaribagh Town, Barkakana Junction, Mesra, and Ranchi Junction.
On September 24, 2023, the second Vande Bharat Train connecting Patna in Bihar with Howrah in West Bengal was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conference from New Delhi. Operating daily with train numbers 22348/22347, it stops at Patna Junction, Patna Sahib, Mokama Junction, Lakhisarai Junction, Jasidih Junction, Jamtara, Asansol Junction, Durgapur, and Howrah Junction.
Patna’s third Vande Bharat Express was started on 12 March 2024. Patna’s third Vande Bharat Express is also known as New Jalpaiguri Patna Vande Bharat Express Vande Bharat Express which covers a distance of 471 km (293 mi) in a travel time of 06 hrs 55 mins with an average speed of 68 km/h. This was the India’s 43rd Vande Bharat Express train. This Vande Bharat train stops at New Jalpaiguri Junction, Kishanganj, Katihar, Naugachia, Khagaria, Begusarai, Patna Sahib and Patna Junction.
Patna’s fourth Vande Bharat Express, which was started between Patna and Gomati Nagar(Lucknow) connets Patna Junction, Ara Junction, Buxar, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, Varanasi Junction, Ayodhya Dham Junction and Gomti Nagar (Lucknow).

Patna 5th Vande Bharat Express Route will cover a distance of 560 km between Patna and Kanpur. The fastest train on this route is Tejas and Sampoorna Kranti Express, which takes 6 hours and 40 minutes. Kanpur is connected with New Delhi through Vande Bharat Express.

Patna 5th Vande Bharat Express will leave Patna Junction at 6 and reach Kanpur Central at 12:30 pm. The same train will leave Kanpur Central at 2 pm and will reach Patna Junction at 8 pm.
