Patna Dobhi 4lane Likely To Open For Traffic April End

Patna Dobhi 4lane, one of Bihar’s most delayed highway projects, will finally open for traffic by the end of April 2024. This highway will reduce the travel time between Patna and Gaya to 90 minutes.

Currently, the road construction company has completed around 95% of the road work on Patna Gaya Dobhi’s four-lane. However, most of the road bridge and railway overbridge work between Dobhi and Patna is still pending. Some of the major railway bridges are pending on the Howrah Delhi Railway line near Gaya, the Patna Gaya railway line near Jehanabad and another railway road bridge near Punpun. Mainly, 3 railway road bridge works are pending between Dobhi and Patna. Apart from railway bridges, some small bridges on rivers and roads are still pending.

Three river bridges are still pending on Patna Dobhi four lanes are near Makhdumpur, and two are near Punpun. After completing the bridges the traffic will smoothly move between Patna and Dobhi. The Patna-Gaya-Dobhi road project got the go-ahead from the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) in 2015. It’s estimated to cost about ₹5,519 crore. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) planned to finish it by March 2023. However, the project got delayed because the Indian railways hadn’t given permission to build rail bridges at Gaya.

Patna Gaya Dobhi’s four-lane will also connect the first green expressway of Bihar near Bela in the Gaya district. Bihar’s first green expressway between Amas and Darbhanga is under construction. Connecting the Amas Darbhanga Green Expressway with the Patna Dobhi four-lane will reduce the travel between North Bihar and South Bihar. The Patna High Court noticed the long delay in building the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi road and decided to keep an eye on all National Highway projects happening in Bihar. They even called the head of NHAI to court and told them to finish the projects that were already started as soon as possible.
