There have been unconfirmed reports about Xi Jinping house arrest in China circulating on various media platforms since Saturday. Although Chinese media has not confirmed the rumors, it has been believed that Xi has been under huge pressure from the senior members of the Chinese Cummunist Party.
What let to the speculations of Xi Jinping being put under house arrest by the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) is series of tweets by Chinese handles. A day before these tweets, American media house Bloomberg reported that a court in China sentenced a former top security official to life imprisonment. The top official is believed to be vocal against Xi Jinping.
Chinese Human Right Activist, Jennifer Zeng posted a video on her Twitter handle claiming the PLA was moving toward Beijing. The tweet reads, “#PLA military vehicles heading to #Beijing on Sep 22. Starting from Huanlai County near Beijing & ending in Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, the entire procession is as long as 80 KM. Meanwhile, rumor has it that #XiJinping was under arrest after #CCP seniors removed him as head of PLA”
Various reports have come out to reveal that more than half of flights in China were grounded on Friday. Senior officials did not even give any explanation for these flights cancellations.
Gordon G. Chang, the Chinese author of ‘The Coming Collapse of China’ and ‘The Great U.S.-China Tech War’ also strengthen the XI Jinping House Arrest news. He tweets, “This video of military vehicles moving to #Beijing comes immediately after the grounding of 59% of the flights in the country and the jailings of senior officials. There’s a lot of smoke, which means there is a fire somewhere inside the #CCP. #China is unstable.”
