Jharkhand became a state under the Republic of India on November 15, 2000. The state shares its border with West Bengal to the east, Chhattisgarh to the west, Bihar to the north, and Odisha to the south. According to data from Census 2022 as published by the Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner Jharkhand has a total population of 32,988,134 which makes it the 14th largest state by population. It has an area of 79,716 km2 with the 15th largest state in India by area. 1. Patratu Valley
Patratu Valley lies in the Ramgarh subdivision of the Ramgarh district of Jharkhand. This is one of the most famous tourist places in Jharkhand only because only of its natural beauty. The average height of this area is only 1328 feet. This beautiful valley is located just 40 km from Ranchi which is the capital of Jharkhand. You can easily travel here in less than 1 hour from Ranchi by road.
The nearest railway station is Patratu Railway Station but it’s a small station with only 3 platforms. Only a few direct trains are available on daily basis from New Delhi and Kolkata. Patratu Valley gives mesmerizing views of lush greenery and a dam. The best thing you will like about Patratu valley is its road design. The must thing to do nearby Patratu dam is boating. The boating service is only available from 9 am to 5 pm so make sure that you reach on time.

2. Deoghar
Deoghar is a holy city in Jharkhand located beside the Mayurakshi River. Deoghar is known as a holy sacred place of Hinduism because of the ancient Baba Baidyanath Temple complex. It has one of the 12 Jyotirlingas sites which makes it one of the most famous tourist places in Jharkhand for Hindu pilgrimage. During the month of Shravan every year, lakhs of devotees take Ganga Jal from Sultanganj and they walk around 90km to Deoghar to worship Baba Baidyanath so that they can get their desired wish for their life.
Deoghar is the fifth largest city in the state of Jharkhand and mostly the economy is dependent on tourism. The nearest railway station is Jasidih Junction which is located around 8km from the main city and is well connected to almost all major cities of India. The nearest airports are Birsa Munda Airport, Ranchi, and Jayprakash Narayan International Airport, Patna. Deoghar airport is still under construction and according to a recent update, it may be getting started in 2023.
3. Giridih
Giridih is one of the most popular districts because of its panoramic beauty, one of the oldest coalfields in India, Waterfall, Parasnath hills, etc. Sri Sammeta Shikharji, also known as Parasanath hills, is one of the most popular tourist places in Jharkhand. Its located on the highest mountain peak of Jharkhand which is around 4500 feet above sea level. The weather is so good all around the year so you can visit here any time with friends and family. This place is mainly famous for Jain pilgrimage and this is belive that Sri Sammeta Shikharji is one of the most sacred places for Jains in the world.
For Jain pilgrims, Parasanath hill is like must-visit tourist places in Jharkhand. There is lakh of Jain pilgrims visiting here every year. Another of the most popular places to visit in Giridih is Usri falls. This beautiful waterfall is located around 13 km from town and is one of the favorite picnic spots for tourists. 4. Betla National Park
Betla National Park is so big that it covers two districts of Jharkhand, Latehar, and Palamu. Betla National Park covers a total area is around 1250 km2 and it is one of the first national parks in India under the Project tiger reserve. This is one of the hidden tourist places in Jharkhand. Betla is the only place in Jharkhand where you can find the tiger. Apart from tigers, you can easily find here a large number of Elephants, Panther, Wolf, Jackal, and Sloth bears. There is only one entry point for the park from Betla village which is located around 65 km from Latehar and 172 km from Ranchi. The road conditions are average so travel time may be high. The nearest biggest railway station is Ranchi and the airport is also located in Ranchi.

5. Ranchi
Ranchi is the capital of Jharkhand state and its name is based on the local bird ‘Rinchi’ which is mainly found in nearby Pahadi mandi. This is the most developed city in the state where you can find many shopping malls, International stadiums, a variety of food options, etc. Ranchi is home to many tourist spots. Dassam falls is most visited tourist places in Jharkhand nearby Ranchi. The Dassam waterfall is located on Ranchi-Tata road near the Tamara village which is around 35 km away from the main city.
