A greenfield expressway is like a brand-new road project. Some old roads are often redeveloped into wider roads, so those roads are not called greenfield expressways. Greenfield Expressway is built on empty land that wasn’t used before. “Greenfield” means it starts fresh without any old stuff around. Greenfield expressways are made to help with traffic problems, make better connections between places, and improve how transportation works. The government plans and builds these projects to create entirely new roads or highways. They use modern ideas and technologies to ensure the roads work well and are safe. During the construction of the Greenfield Expressway, there was no problem managing traffic because it was built on new land.

Difference Between Greenfield Expressway and Green Highway

Greenfield Expressway and Green Highway are totally different. Green Highways aims to make highway corridors green by involving the community, farmers, the private sector, NGOs, and government institutions. In this initiative, 1% of the total project cost for all highway projects will be dedicated to planting and maintaining trees. By planting trees and shrubs along National Highways, Green Highways help decrease air pollution and dust impact. These green corridors serve as natural filters for air pollutants, and they also prevent soil erosion on embankment slopes.
