Prof. Waseem Barelvi: Mushaira is a custodian of culture and a mirror of social change

New Delhi, September 14, 2025: Poetry, music and culture converged at the iconic Aiwan-e-Ghalib auditorium, where Amaze Foundation in association with CL Educate hosted “Hindi Meri Jaan” on the occasion of Hindi Diwas. The evening brought together celebrated poets, ghazal singers and cultural stalwarts in a packed house that reaffirmed the timeless relevance of literature.

Presiding over the evening, noted poet Prof. Waseem Barelvi said, “A mushaira is not just an evening of poetry, it is an institution that safeguards cultural values, mirrors social change, and nurtures intellectual growth. Its enduring popularity proves how poetry continues to influence human thought at every level.”

Raghvendra Dwivedi, Founder of Amaze Foundation, underlined the vision behind the initiative: “Amaze Foundation has always believed in building bridges between art, education and social consciousness. With Hindi Meri Jaan, we are celebrating poetry while also honoring those who preserve our heritage and shape new narratives.”

Adding to this, Convenor Shahid Anjum said, “Hindi Meri Jaan is not just an event, it is a cultural movement. It brings together established and emerging poets on a platform where literature is truly valued.”

Creative Director Shariqa Malik described the audience’s response as the real highlight of the evening: “The magic of Aiwan-e-Ghalib was in its audience—house full, heart full. Every verse and every applause was proof that poetry continues to live and thrive.”

The evening featured a soulful ghazal sarai by Yatish Acharya and Lilian Berry, alongside poetry recitations by: Dr. Nawaz Deobandi, Yash Malviya, Pratap Somvanshi, Alok Aviral, Fayyaz Farooqui, Dr. Nusrat Mehdi, Sarfaraz Mukadam, Shahid Anjum, Moin Shadab, Prof. Rehman Musawwir, Fakhir Adeeb, Kaleem Samar, Anwar Kamal, Faiz Khumar, Sanjeev Nigam, Shariqa Malik, Umar Izhar and Neel Sunil.

As part of the celebrations, the Amaze Awards were presented to recognize excellence across art, culture, literature and innovation. Honorees included Syed Farhaan Wasti (Jashn-e-Urdu, Dubai), Imad ul Malik (Sharaf Exchange & Applause Adab, Dubai), Sarfaraz Mukadam (for Urdu promotion in South Africa), Pawan Hora (Wishbox Studio) and Jitender Gogna (astrology & vastu expertise).

The event drew a distinguished audience, including Captain Naresh Berry (industrialist & poet), former CISF DG Vijay Kumar, IAS officer Shiv Raj Singh (Retd.), Salam TV Head Tariq Faridi, Huma Rizvi (niece of poet Jaun Elia), Dr. Ruby (Singapore), poet J.P. Rawat, social activist Aqeel Hussain, senior advocate A. Rehman, Urdu Poet Qamar Abbas Qamar, AajTak Journalist Sakib Mazeed, Journalist Suhail Anjum, Munsef TV Editor Khursheed Rabbani, Siyasi Taqdeer Editor Mohammed Mustaqeem Khan, and Salamuddin Khan of Ibarat Publications.

With its overwhelming response and diverse participation, “Hindi Meri Jaan” left an indelible mark, blending tradition with contemporary voices and reaffirming poetry’s place in public life.
