The first Sleeper Vande Bharat sleeper express train is scheduled to be launched by Indian Railways in March 2024 to enhance passenger convenience.
The Indian Railways stands to reap significant advantages from the introduction of Vande Bharat sleeper trains, facilitating overnight travel for passengers. Chennai’s Integral Coach Factory (ICF) is currently in the process of designing the Vande Bharat sleeper train. Striving for cost-efficiency, the sleeper variant of Vande Bharat will consist of 16 coaches, comprising 11 AC three-tier, 4 AC two-tier, and 1 first AC.
The Integral Coach Factory (ICF), located in Perambur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, specializes in the production of rail coaches. Established in 1955, it is under the ownership and operation of the Indian Railways. The design of the sleeper Vande Bharat Express coaches will prioritize the provision of accommodations for passengers assisting individuals with disabilities to stay together.
First Sleeper Vande Bharat Express Train Route
According to the sources, First Sleeper Vande Bharat will start on Patna Delhi route which will connect Patna Junction and Anand Vihar Station in New Delhi. This sleeper Vande Bharat Express train route will cover a distance of 990 km between Patna and New Delhi. There has been a recent surge in the volume of passengers travelling along the Patna to New Delhi route. The introduction of the Sleeper Vande Bharat Express is expected to significantly decrease the travel time between these two cities.
First Sleeper Vande Bharat Express Train Stop List
As widely recognized, the Vande Bharat Express has fewer scheduled stops compared to other trains in India. The first sleeper Vande Bharat Express will stop at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction, Prayagraj Junction and Kanpur Central between Patna and New Delhi. This sleeper Vande Bharat Express will connect three Indian states Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and New Delhi.
First Sleeper Vande Bharat Express Train Ticket Price
According to media reports, the third AC sleeper class ticket for the Vande Bharat Express will be priced higher than that of the Rajdhani Express. For a one-way journey on the Patna to Delhi route, the third AC class ticket is expected to cost approximately 3,100 rupees, the second AC class ticket 3,900 rupees, and the first class AC ticket 5,200 rupees on the Vande Bharat Express.
When Will First Sleeper Vande Bharat Express Train Start?
Sleeper Vande Bharat Express manufacturing has already started in Chennai. PM Narendra Modi will flag off the first Sleeper Vande Bharat Express train on 15 March 2024.
