Delhi Capitals’ dashing opener Shikhar Dhawan, became the first batsman in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) to have scored two consecutive innings of 100+. Even this superb innings could not take his team to the winning line as he failed to get any support from his teammates.
Riding on Dhawan’s superb 61-ball-106 (not out), Delhi finished with 164-5 in 20 overs. In reply, Punjab lost captain KL Rahul, Chris Gayle, and in-form Mayank Agarwal inside powerplay. Some quality power-hitting from Nicholas Pooran(53/28) and his partnership with Glen Maxwell (32/24) made sure Kings XI Punjab stay in the play-off race.
