On April 25, 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened Kerala's first Vande Bharat Express at Thiruvananthapuram Central. This fast train is a new thing for Kerala and can go 586 kilometres in 8 hours. It travels at an average speed of 73 kilometres per hour.
