Padmanabhan Ananth, the Divisional Railway Manager of Madurai, has revealed that the renovation project for Tirunelveli Railway Junction has progressed to the stage where a consultant has been entrusted with the task of crafting a comprehensive master plan. This plan will provide a detailed blueprint outlining the proposed facilities to be developed, including the number of lifts, escalators, waiting rooms, restrooms, and other amenities to be incorporated into the station.

The Tirunelveli First Vande Bharat Express route spans a distance of 652 km, connecting these two cities. Typically, many trains linking Tirunelveli Junction and Chennai Egmore Junction operate during nighttime hours, departing from Tirunelveli in the evening and arriving in Chennai the following morning. The Nellai First Vande Bharat Express will offer a valuable daytime travel alternative for numerous districts within Tamil Nadu between Nellai and Chennai.

The Tirunelveli First Vande Bharat Express is expected to depart from Tirunelveli at 6 a.m., arriving in Chennai at 1.50 p.m. On the return journey, the train is anticipated to leave the state capital at 2.50 p.m., reaching Tirunelveli at 10.40 p.m. daily, except on Tuesdays.
