Eid-Ul-Fitr is a joyous occasion and one of the most significant festivals in the Islamic religion. On this day, Muslims end their Roza, thank Allah for offering them health and resistance during Ramadan, wear new clothes, prepare special delicacies, do charity, and get together with their loved ones.

Eid ul Fitr 2023 begins the day after Ramadan ends. Its name means “festival of the breaking of the fast.” It is traditionally marked with a special meal—which, for many Muslims, is the first daytime meal they’ve eaten in a month. The festival is usually celebrated on the first day of Shawwal, the tenth month of the Islamic calendar, after the sighting of the new moon.

Eid Ul Fitr 2023 Date and Time in India

Eid ul Fitr 2023 is expected to be celebrated on Friday, April 21, or Saturday, April 22, 2023, in India. The final date is not confirmed because it depends on the sighting of the moon. Eid Ul Fitr 2023 date in Dubai is not final yet; the UAE’s moon-sighting committee will meet on Thursday, April 20, to determine whether Eid is on Friday, April 21, or Saturday, April 22. Why is Eid Ul Fitr 2023 Celebrated in India?

Eid Ul Fitr is also called the Festival of Breaking the Fast, Lesser Eid, Sweet Eid, Sugar Feast, Little Eid, and Small Eid in India. During this period, Indian Muslim Eid prayers, charity, social gatherings, festive meals, gift-giving, dressing up, Lebaran etc. Eid ul Fitr is also celebrated to pay tribute to Allah for bestowing strength and courage during the month-long fasting customs.
