After the grand success of the Vande Bharat Express Train in India soon, the first international Vande Bharat Express will start between India and Nepal.
The network of Vande Bharat Express is increasing rapidly in India. In the last four years, 51 Vande Bharat Express trains have been launched in India, and the Indian Railway plans to launch 50 more next year. Currently, the Vande Bharat Train in India only has chair cars, but soon, the Indian Railway will start to sleep on Vande Bharat Trains. The top speed of Vande Bharat Express is 180 km/h, but due to a lack of high-quality railway track, Vande Bharat Train is running at a maximum speed of 160 km/h. If the railway track condition is good in other countries, it will run at even more than 180 km/h.
India has been aiming to promote the flagship Vande Bharat trains as a primary export product, but so far, no orders have been received. Latin American (LatAm) and African countries have been the main focus, especially where there is demand for electric locomotives. Although the current Vande Bharat trains are designed for broad gauge, Railways may need to modify them to operate on standard gauges, commonly used in many countries worldwide.
According to a senior official, the railways aim to become a significant exporter of Vande Bharat trains by 2025-26 to markets in Europe, South America, and East Asia. The latest version of these trains, which includes sleeper coaches, is expected to be operational by the first quarter of 2024. Additionally, the railways plan to cover 10-12 lakh kilometres with 75 Vande Bharat trains over the next few years to prepare them for export.
First International Vande Bharat Express Route
According to the sources, the First International Vande Bharat train route will connect India and Nepal. Railway lines connect India and Nepal, and there is no need for a visa to travel between India and Nepal. The First International Vande Bharat Express will allow Nepali people to travel by Vande Bharat Train. There are still small railway lines in Nepal. Vande Bharat Train for Nepal will play an essential role in its development.
