FIMT Hosts International Conference on AI and Natural Intelligence Integration

The FIMT School of Law, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), successfully organized a two-day International Conference on “The Integration of Artificial Intelligence and Natural Intelligence for Creating a Better World.” The event took place on February 28 and March 1, 2025, at the Multipurpose Hall & Auditorium, bringing together 250 students and faculty from BA LLB and BBA LLB programs, along with distinguished scholars, academicians, and professionals from around the world.

The conference featured three technical sessions, two conducted virtually and one in-person, providing an extensive platform for discussing AI’s transformative role across various sectors. A total of 60 research papers were presented by experts, offering fresh perspectives on how AI is reshaping governance, law, education, and global sustainability efforts.

Day 1 Highlights: AI in Legal and Societal Transformation

The first day commenced with two technical sessions. The first session, titled “AI in Legal Education, Governance, and Justice,” was chaired by Prof. Dr. M. Afzal Wani and Prof. (Dr.) Shaveta Gagneja. This session explored AI’s impact on legal education, research, and governance, highlighting innovations in judicial processes and policy-making.

The second technical session, held virtually, focused on “AI for Societal and Global Transformation.” Co-chaired by Dr. Kushani De Silva (Sri Lanka) and Ms. Swati Pandita, this session emphasized AI’s role in agriculture, energy optimization, urban planning, and climate change mitigation strategies.

The inaugural ceremony was held at 2 PM, where Chairman Shri V.K.N. Bhardwaj welcomed the participants. Hon’ble Mr. Justice Siddharth Mridul joined virtually to deliver a thought-provoking address. This was followed by insights from Prof. Towhidul Islam (University of Dhaka) on AI’s role in natural intelligence and a keynote speech by Prof. (Dr.) Shivani Goswami on AI and Gender Justice.

Day 2 Highlights: AI in Governance, Security, and Justice

The second day featured Technical Session 3, which addressed AI’s role in governance, security, and justice. Chaired by Ms. Bhavna Mahadew (University of Mauritius) and Dr. Gururaj (NIRMA University, Gujarat), this session discussed AI’s applications in cybersecurity, risk mitigation, and the ethical challenges of autonomous systems.

The valedictory ceremony began at 2 PM with an address by Prof. (Dr.) M. Afzal Wani, Advisor at FIMT. Prof. Mary Lou Frank (University of Georgia), Ms. Bhavna Mahadew, and Dr. Kushani De Silva shared their insights on AI’s global implications. The conference report was presented by Dr. Shivani Singh, followed by a special address by Prof. (Dr.) Anuj Vaksha on AI and Constitutional Morality.

The event concluded with a resolution proposed by Prof. (Dr.) M. Afzal Wani and a final vote of thanks by Dr. Sonia (School of Law). The conference successfully fostered discussions on the future of AI integration, paving the way for research and ethical advancements in artificial intelligence.
