FIMT Civil Defence Society successfully conducted a three-day practical session on Fire Safety and First Aid from March 3 to March 5, 2025.

The event, held at the College Auditorium (Wing-B), aimed to educate students on fire prevention, safety measures, and essential first-aid techniques to handle emergencies effectively. The session saw enthusiastic participation from 120 students across multiple disciplines, providing them with hands-on training and life-saving skills.

Day 1: Inauguration and Introduction to Fire Safety
The session commenced on March 3 with an inaugural address by Mr. Amit Kumar, who emphasized the crucial role of fire safety and first aid in daily life. He introduced students to the importance of Civil Defence in disaster management and briefed them on different types of fire hazards, causes of fire outbreaks, and preventive measures.
The highlight of the day was a practical demonstration of fire extinguishers, where students learned various firefighting techniques and how to handle different types of fires. The first session witnessed the participation of 150 students from various courses, including BA LLB, BBA LLB, BBA(G), BCA, B.COM, BA Economics, LLM, and B.Ed. Faculty coordinators, including Mr. Jitender Yadav, Ms. Mahima Rana, Ms. Sweety Singh, and Ms. Uma Khatana, ensured smooth execution of the session.
Day 2: Hands-on First Aid Training
The second day of the event focused on first aid training and emergency response techniques. Mr. Amit Kumar and his team conducted a detailed session on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), bleeding control, and treating burn injuries. Participants engaged in mock drills that simulated fire evacuation scenarios, helping them understand how to respond effectively during real-life emergencies.
Additionally, students were trained on safety measures during earthquakes and gas leak-related fires. The hands-on approach allowed students to gain confidence in handling medical emergencies. The session was attended by 100 students from different courses, further enhancing their awareness and preparedness.
Day 3: Mock Drills and Certification Ceremony
The final day of the session featured a large-scale mock drill, testing the students’ ability to manage a fire emergency. Teams were assigned specific roles, including fire suppression, evacuation coordination, and casualty management. Mr. Amit Kumar evaluated their performance and provided constructive feedback on their response efficiency and teamwork.
Following the successful completion of the drills, students engaged in an interactive Q&A session, where they clarified doubts and gained additional insights from the experts. The event concluded with the distribution of participation certificates, recognizing students’ efforts and commitment to learning vital life-saving skills.
The three-day session was instrumental in enhancing students’ knowledge and practical skills in fire safety and first aid. The Civil Defence Society extended its gratitude to Mr. Amit Kumar and his team for their invaluable guidance and hands-on training.
