In March, the electricity department of Jehenabad District in Bihar worked harder to recover overdue money. Many consumers have not paid their electricity bills for many months, and the overdue amount is huge. The Electricity Department used S drive to find villages and people who hadn’t paid their electricity bills. Then, they turned off the power for those who owed money. The electricity department cutting the power cut the whole village, so many people were affected by the power cut.

The electricity department is working harder to get back money from people who haven’t paid their bills. They’re finding villages and customers who owe money and cutting off their power. The Executive Engineer in Jehanabad said that there’s about Rs 46 crore in unpaid bills from 21 thousand customers. He also said they’ve turned off the power for 22 villages that haven’t paid their bills. The electricity department is cutting the power cut just a few days before the Holi festival. Holi is one of the most important festivals in Bihar, and power cuts will affect it badly.

Sunil Kumar, the Executive Engineer of Jehanabad district, shared that in our district, 21 thousand people owe a total of Rs 46 crore in electricity bills. These bills have been pending since last year. To collect this money, we’re running a campaign. If people don’t pay up, we have to cut off their power connection. He also added that they have requested many times to the consumer to pay electricity bill on time.

Since the whole village lost power, farmers are struggling with both irrigation and drinking water. They now rely on hand pumps for drinking water, as tap water has stopped flowing. Additionally, many village homes no longer have private hand pumps.

Electricity to villages like Hadpur, Kazi Chak, Khairuchak in Ratni block, Mahda in Sadar block, and Shiva Bigha, Salempur, Harpura, Bajitpur, and more blocks has been shut off. An appeal has been made to all consumers to pay their electricity bills right away, or else action will be taken.
