Following the launch of the Vande Bharat Express between Gorakhpur and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, plans are underway to extend the service to connect Ayodhya, Prayagraj, and Varanasi route through the Vande Bharat Express train route. The Northern Railway Lucknow Divisional Administration has submitted a proposal to the Railway Board for consideration.
In a pioneering move, a single Vande Bharat train will establish connectivity between Lucknow and the significant pilgrimage cities of Ayodhya, Prayagraj, and Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh. This initiative marks the first time that these prominent religious destinations will be linked by a Vande Bharat rail service, enhancing convenience and accessibility for pilgrims and travellers seeking to visit these revered locations.

Ayodhya Prayagraj Varanasi Vande Bharat Express Train Route will connect Uttar Pradesh’s capital city, Lucknow and the three most important pilgrim places of Uttar Pradesh. Upon reaching Ayodhya from Lucknow, the branch line will extend to Prayagraj via Sultanpur and Pratapgarh. The proposed Vande Bharat Express route will encompass the journey from Prayagraj to Varanasi through Janghai. The train’s return route will follow the same path, traversing through Prayagraj and Ayodhya and ultimately reaching Lucknow.

As per a senior Railway Board official, the request for the allocation of rakes for Vande Bharat Express has been forwarded to the coach factory located in Chennai.

As per the railway’s proposal, the Vande Bharat Express is scheduled to commence its journey from Lucknow at 6:00 am. This train route will encompass travel through Ayodhya and Prayagraj before reaching its final destination of Varanasi. The entire distance for this route is expected to be covered in a time span of approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes.

According to the sources, Ayodhya Prayagraj Varanasi Vande Bharat Express Train will start from Diwali 2023. The train route has been finalised, and the railway has asked Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai to provide train coaches as soon as possible. Ayodhya Prayagraj Varanasi Vande Bharat Express Train will have 8 coaches.
