Mohammad Rehan was arrested by an SIT in Patna for allegedly circulating obscene videos of girls in Gaya’s Banke Bazar. Police are continuing the investigation.
The incident took place in the Banke Bazar police station area of Gaya district. The case came to light after an alleged objectionable video was widely shared on social media, creating concern among local residents. Following a complaint filed by the victim’s brother, the police registered an FIR against Mohammad Rehan.
The case includes serious charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and other relevant sections of the law. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation and are questioning the accused to gather more evidence related to the case.
According to the Station House Officer (SHO), technical surveillance initially traced the accused’s location to Delhi. Acting on the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sushil Kumar, a four-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed under the leadership of Sherghati DSP Sandeep Kumar to apprehend him. The team left for Delhi to carry out the operation.
However, after reportedly learning about the police action, the accused fled from Delhi and headed to Patna. Using continuous technical tracking and surveillance, the SIT successfully located and arrested him in Patna. The accused is now being questioned as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police are not only investigating the role of the main accused but are also trying to identify the individuals responsible for uploading and spreading the alleged video on social media. Investigators are examining digital evidence and technical data to trace the source of the viral content and determine how it was circulated.
Authorities believe that more people may have been involved in sharing or promoting the video online. Based on the findings from the ongoing technical investigation, the police are identifying other suspects who may have played a role in the case. The investigation is still underway.
