Southern Railway is running many special trains to clear the Christmas rush. Currently, Southern Railway has announced two special trains between Chennai and Nagercoil. One special train between Chennai and Nagercoil runs with 20 coaches, including the 2-AC two-tier, 5-AC three-tier, 10-sleeper class, 2-general second class, and 1-second class (Divyangjan Friendly). This train will stop at Valliyur, Tirunelveli, Kovilpatti, Sattur, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Dindigul, Trichy, Srirangam, Ariyalur, Vridhachalam, Villupuram, Chengalpet, Tambaram and Chennai Egmore.
