CLAT 2026 Exam Eligibility

The candidates willing to sit in the CLAT examination 2026 must meet the eligibility criteria set by the consortiums of NLUs. Even if they pass the exam, applicants who cannot enroll in integrated LLB programs provided by NLUs will not be considered for admission. And therefore, it becomes very crucial for the students or candidates to check whether they meet the eligibility criteria before filling out the application form.

The eligibility criteria are as follows-

● Candidates for UG-CLAT 2026 must have completed Class 12 or a comparable exam with at least 45% overall ( in the case of SC and ST candidates, the roof limit is 40%) marks.

● Even if the candidate is currently enrolled in Class 12 or an equivalent course and is scheduled to take the board exam in May or April of that year, they are eligible to take the CLAT in 2026. The eligibility requirements, including the minimum grade in Class 12, must once more be met for admission.

Important Tips CLAT 2026 Exam

For the English Language:

Since it is a language test, the candidate needs to work on reading ability, vocabulary, and analytical and grammatical skills.

For Legal Aptitude, opt for the following books:

● The Hindu or The Indian Express

● Legal magazines, judgments, and editorials.

For Current Affairs, including General knowledge, the candidate needs to:

● Read a daily newspaper such as The Hindu, The Indian Express, or The Live Mint

● Read articles and editorials from newspapers as well as on the internet

● Read a monthly current affairs magazine

● For general knowledge, read the History, polity, economics, and environment of Class 12 and make notes.

● Practice sample papers for 2026 CLAT as much as possible to get an idea about the type of questions.

Important Things to Remember for CLAT 2026

  1. CLAT 2026 applications are now open from July 2025, and candidates must submit their forms by October 31, 2025.
  2. Fill in all personal, academic, and category details correctly to avoid mistakes.
  3. In previous years, many forms were rejected due to wrong information or document mismatches.
  4. Upload a clear photograph and make sure your signature matches your official ID.
  5. After submission, keep checking for updates on the official website.
  6. The admit card is expected to be released in the last week of November 2025.
