During the previous season of IPL in 2023, spectators at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai cheered for their captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, with decibel levels reaching between 110 and 120 in most of the games held at the venue. The fans of CSK get excited when Dhoni comes for batting. Currently, Dhoni is one of the most famous players of IPL. On Sunday (March 31), the sound levels surpassed those recorded previously when CSK fans erupted in cheers following Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s batting on the ground.

It’s worth noting that a military jet produces around 130 dB of noise during take-off, while an aircraft carrier generates up to 100 decibels. This gives an idea of the noise level generated by the crowd at these cricket matches. In a notable instance during the ODI World Cup 2023 final, the dismissal of Australia opener David Warner by Indian pacer Mohammed Shami led to an incredibly loud noise inside the Narendra Modi Stadium, with decibel levels reaching 127 dB.

Highest Decibel Level in IPL History

On March 31, 2024, a match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) recorded the highest decibel level of 128 when Mahendra Singh Dhoni came for batting.

In yesterday’s match, Rishabh Pant, the captain of Delhi Capitals, surprised everyone by choosing to bat first after winning the toss. Pant himself played a stunning half-century innings, bolstering his team’s total. Meanwhile, Matheesha Pathirana showcased exceptional bowling skills for Chennai Super Kings. The reigning champions, Chennai Super Kings, are currently leading the IPL 2024 points table and appear well-prepared to take on Delhi Capitals at the Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA–VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam.

Dhoni’s unbeaten 37 runs off just 16 balls set the stadium ablaze with excitement. With Chennai Super Kings requiring 72 runs from just 23 balls, Dhoni’s masterful innings propelled them to a total of 171/6. Despite falling short of the target, there were no complaints from the crowd. The entire stadium erupted with joy as CSK fans reveled in witnessing the vintage Mahi magic once again.
