With the Maha Kumbh 2025 approaching, the Prayagraj Varanasi Ayodhya Vande Bharat Express is set to revolutionize connectivity across Uttar Pradesh. Following the successful launch of the Gorakhpur-Lucknow Vande Bharat Express, Northern Railway’s Lucknow Division has proposed extending the service to include key pilgrimage destinations Ayodhya, Prayagraj, and Varanasi.

Prayagraj Varanasi Ayodhya Vande Bharat Route

For the first time, a single Vande Bharat train will connect Lucknow with these three iconic spiritual hubs, simplifying travel for pilgrims and tourists. The train will run from Lucknow to Ayodhya, extend to Prayagraj via Sultanpur and Pratapgarh, and finally reach Varanasi through Janghai. This route will enhance accessibility, especially during the Maha Kumbh, making travel faster and more convenient.

The proposed train will have stoppages at Ayodhya Junction and Prayagraj Junction, covering the entire route in just 5 hours and 30 minutes. Scheduled to depart Lucknow at 6:00 AM, this high-speed service is expected to reduce travel time significantly.

The Railway Board has already submitted a request for rakes to Chennai’s Integral Coach Factory, ensuring state-of-the-art coaches with the signature features of the Vande Bharat Express. With eight coaches, the train will cater to high demand during the festive period.

Expected to begin operations by Second Week of Jan 2025, this initiative will not only enhance connectivity for Maha Kumbh pilgrims but also mark a significant milestone in India’s railway infrastructure, offering a blend of speed, comfort, and efficiency.
