Southern Railway has introduced permanent augmentation and standardization of train compositions for select services to enhance passenger capacity and improve travel convenience.
The changes are scheduled to be effective in a phased manner, benefiting key routes and connecting important destinations in southern India
Details of Train Composition Changes
- Train No. 12027/12028 KSR Bengaluru – Dr. MGR Chennai Central Shatabdi Express
- Existing Composition: 16 coaches, including 12 AC Chair Car Coaches, 2 AC Executive Chair Car Coaches, 1 Luggage cum Brake Van, and 1 Second Class Coach (Divyangjan-friendly).
- Revised Composition: Increased to 17 coaches with the addition of 1 AC Chair Car Coach. The updated setup includes 13 AC Chair Car Coaches, 2 AC Executive Chair Car Coaches, 1 Luggage cum Brake Van, and 1 Second Class Coach (Divyangjan-friendly).
- Effective Date: From December 15, 2024, for services starting at KSR Bengaluru and Dr. MGR Chennai Central.
- Train No. 16575/16576 Yesvantpur – Mangaluru Junction Yesvantpur Express
- Existing Composition: 14 coaches, including 1 AC Chair Car Coach, 7 Chair Car Coaches, 2 General Second Class Coaches, 1 Luggage cum Brake Van, 1 Second Class Coach (Divyangjan-friendly), and 2 AC Vistadome Chair Cars.
- Revised Composition: Enhanced with the addition of 1 Chair Car Coach, 2 General Second Class Coaches, and 1 AC Three-Tier Economy Coach. The final composition will include 17 coaches, with 1 AC Chair Car Coach, 3 Chair Car Coaches, 4 General Second Class Coaches, 1 AC Three-Tier Economy Coach, 1 Sleeper Class Coach, and other existing coaches.
- Effective Date: From January 31, 2025, at Yesvantpur and Mangaluru Junction.
- Train No. 16539/16540 Yesvantpur – Mangaluru Junction Yesvantpur Express
- Existing Composition: 14 coaches, including 1 AC Chair Car Coach, 7 Chair Car Coaches, 2 General Second Class Coaches, 1 Luggage cum Brake Van, 1 Second Class Coach (Divyangjan-friendly), and 2 AC Vistadome Chair Cars.
- Revised Composition: No changes in the total number of coaches. The new configuration ensures balanced distribution and optimized seating arrangements.
- Effective Date: From February 2, 2025, at Yesvantpur and Mangaluru Junction.
