To accommodate the additional rush of passengers during the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, the Indian Railways has announced the operation of a special train, 09801/09802, between Sogaria and Banaras.
This special train will operate on seven trips, departing Sogaria on Tuesdays and Fridays (January 17, 21, 24, and February 7, 14, 18, and 21) and Banaras on Wednesdays and Saturdays (January 18, 22, 25, and February 8, 15, 19, and 22).
Train No. 09801: Sogaria and Banaras
The Sogaria-Banaras Kumbh Mela Special Train (09801) will depart from Sogaria at 8:15 AM and pass through the following stations:
- Anta: 8:47 AM
- Baran: 9:07 AM
- Atru: 9:32 AM
- Chhabra Gugor: 10:00 AM
- Ruthiyai: 11:17 AM
- Guna: 11:50 AM
- Ashok Nagar: 12:32 PM
- Mungawali: 1:10 PM
- Malkhedi: 2:35 PM
- Khurai: 2:52 PM
- Sagar: 4:05 PM
- Katni: 8:05 PM
- Prayagraj Chheoki: 5:20 AM (next day)
- Banaras Arrival: 10:15 AM (next day)
Train No. 09802: Banaras to Sogaria
On its return journey, the Banaras-Sogaria Kumbh Mela Special Train (09802) will depart from Banaras at 2:45 PM and follow this schedule:
- Chunar: 4:27 PM
- Mirzapur: 4:52 PM
- Prayagraj Chheoki: 6:40 PM
- Manikpur: 10:45 PM
- Sagar: 6:20 AM (next day)
- Guna: 11:20 AM
- Sogaria Arrival: 3:45 PM
Coach Composition and Facilities
The special train will feature 22 coaches, including sleeper and general compartments, to accommodate the heavy influx of passengers during the Maha Kumbh Mela.

The train service is designed to provide a seamless travel experience for pilgrims visiting Banaras for the Maha Kumbh. This initiative by the Indian Railways is expected to alleviate travel challenges and ensure timely connectivity for thousands of devotees.
