This Railway Project Will Cut Freight Detention Time From 141 to 30 minutes

The Union Cabinet, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved three multi-tracking railway project projects aimed at enhancing railway infrastructure across the country. A key highlight of this expansion is the Manikpur-Iradatganj 3rd Rail Line, which includes a rail flyover between Lohgara and Madaraha.

New Railway Project Details:

  • Estimated Cost: ₹1,507 crore
  • Route Length: 84.4 km
  • Track Length: 100.19 km
  • States Covered: Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh

Benefits of the Project:

  1. Enhanced Connectivity: The project will improve rail connectivity to 534 villages and positively impact around 8 lakh people in the region.
  2. Freight Efficiency: It will reduce freight detention time significantly, from 141 minutes to just 30 minutes, facilitating smoother operations.
  3. Reduced Congestion: By facilitating additional load handling, the project will reduce logistics costs and decongest existing tracks.
  4. Economic Growth: Improved logistics and reduced transit times will boost trade and commerce in the region.

The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved three major railway projects worth ₹7,927 crore. Out of these, two projects will be implemented in Maharashtra, where the BJP-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) recently achieved a significant victory in the assembly elections.

The approved projects are:

  1. Jalgaon–Manmad 4th Line: A new 160-kilometer railway line to improve connectivity in Maharashtra.
  2. Bhusawal–Khandwa 3rd and 4th Line: Covering 131 kilometers to enhance rail infrastructure in the state.
  3. Prayagraj (Iradatganj)–Manikpur 3rd Line: An 84-kilometer line in Uttar Pradesh to ease congestion and improve freight movement.

These projects aim to boost rail capacity, reduce congestion, and improve logistics efficiency. They are part of the government’s broader effort to modernize the railway network and enhance connectivity across key regions.

This initiative is a part of the PM Gati Shakti – National Master Plan, which focuses on integrated infrastructure development for faster and seamless connectivity. The approval of such projects reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing Indian Railways and promoting economic growth through improved infrastructure.

With these projects, Indian Railways continues to make strides towards enhanced operational efficiency and better service delivery for passengers and freight services.
