The IPHH College of Nursing & Allied Health Sciences, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, in partnership with the Government Medical College & Hospital, Bakshinagar, observed World AIDS Day with a vibrant and informative program aimed at spreading awareness about HIV/AIDS.
The event, graced by the presence of Dr. Narinder Singh Butyal, Medical Superintendent of Government Medical College & Hospital, Jammu, featured a range of engaging and educational activities to combat misconceptions and inspire collective action against HIV/AIDS.
Key Activities of the World AIDS Day Observed at IPHH:
- Awareness Rally:
Students and faculty took to the streets, holding banners and placards with messages about HIV prevention, testing, and treatment. The rally emphasized the importance of community action and the role of every individual in eliminating stigma around HIV/AIDS. - Nukad Natak (Street Play):
A powerful street play performed by students addressed the societal myths and prejudices surrounding HIV/AIDS. The emotional and thought-provoking act encouraged empathy and support for individuals living with the virus. - Informative Speeches:
Students and faculty members delivered speeches highlighting the significance of early detection, regular testing, and preventive measures. They also discussed global efforts and the ongoing fight against the spread of the virus. - Poster and Placard Display:
Creative and informative posters, designed by students, were displayed to educate on various aspects of HIV, including transmission, prevention, treatment, and the importance of removing stigma and discrimination.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from first-year B.Sc. Nursing students, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing students, and students from General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) and GNM Lateral Entry programs.

The program was conducted under the leadership of senior faculty, including Mr. Manoj Kotru, Mrs. Vandana (Associate Professor), Mrs. Anu (Assistant Professor), and nursing tutors Mrs. Shewali, Ms. Swati, Mrs. Sahila, Ms. Khushnama, Ms. Samiksha, Mr. Suhail, Mr. Naseer, Mr. Pawan, Mr. Khuswinder, and Mrs. Abbey (Administrator).
