A bunch of young people had rented some houses in Lonavala to make adult videos to stream online. But the police stopped them and took away the videos. They caught 13 people, including five women, making these videos in the houses. These people came from different places in India and were attracted to acting in web series and online platforms. Many people start shooting porn videos because it’s an easy way to earn money.

In these videos, many actors would film together, similar to how it’s done in pornographic movies. Some pornographic films were discovered on their computer, which even surprised the officers. The quality of the videos made here was said to be similar to those made in the USA.

Kishor Dhumal, senior police inspector at Lonavla Rural Police station, said, “As per information received, we raided a bungalow in Patan village and found the accused were involved in filming pornographic content inside the bungalow.’’ Satya Sai Karthik, deputy superintendent of police, Lonavla division, said, “During our raid, it was revealed that a total of 15 individuals were found filming porn film at the bungalow. They used to publish porn films on various websites and online platforms. Out of a total of 18, we have arrested 13 individuals, and further investigation is underway.’’

The group of people who were shooting porn videos hired girls and boys across various cities by offering them a good amount of money. The girls said to the police that they did not have any idea that they were going to shooting porn videos.

In India, all forms of pornography, including print, electronic, and digital media (OTT), are illegal. It is against the law to host, display, upload, modify, publish, transmit, store, update, or share pornography. On March 14, 2024, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) in India banned 18 OTT apps from the Google Play Store and suspended all 57 of their social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. They also shut down 19 streaming websites. Distributing, selling, or circulating obscene materials and selling pornographic content to anyone under the age of 20 is illegal under Section 293 of the Indian Penal Code and IT Act-67B. Shooting porn videos also banned in India.
