Amrit Bharat Express is the upcoming semi-high-speed train in India. It is inspired by the famous Vande Bharat Express Train but is quite different in facilities and ticket prices.

Indian railway plays one of the most very important roles in the Indian transportation system. The growth of the Indian Railway is quite slow after Independence as compared to the road network and aviation industry. Indian Railway is also currently working on the Mumbai Ahmedabad bullet train, which will be India’s first high-speed train line.
What is Amrit Bharat Express?
Amrit Bharat Express has taken inspiration from the fastest train in the country, Vande Bharat Express. There are a few similarities between Amrit Bharat and Vande Bharat Express, but in most terms, there are huge differences. Vande Bharat Express will cover a distance of a maximum of 800 km, while Amrit Bharat will cover a distance of more than 1000 km. Amrit Bharat is designed for common people because ticket price is very low as compared to Vande Bharat.
Amrit Bharat Express Route
Till the end of December 2023, there are two proposed routes of Amrit Bharat Express, Darbhanga Delhi Amrit Bharat Express and Patna Mumbai Amrit Bharat Train. As per the media reports, the Indian railway is planning to run more than 100 Amrit Bharat trains on 50 different routes till the end of December 2024.
Amrit Bharat Express Speed
The Amrit Bharat train can go as fast as 150 km/h, but it’s likely to go around 110 to 120 km/h due to high traffic on railway tracks and poor tracks. The train will be powered by two WAP-5 engines, which is different from other Indian trains. This will be the first passenger and express train to run with two engines. The two engines will help to get the train to maximum speed in less time as compared to other trains.
Amrit Bharat Express Interiors

Amrit Bharat train interiors are very simple as compared to the Vande Bharat Express. Amrit Bharat interiors in every coach will have CCTV cameras, taps that work with sensors, electric outlets, toilets that use a vacuum system, LED lights, up-to-date switches, fans, and a system to provide information for passengers. Every seat will have mobile charging ports in unreserved coaches which is the first thing in any Indian train interior.
Amrit Bharat Express Ticket Price
Amrit Bharat Express Ticket Price is almost equal to that of other express trains in India. Amrit Bharat Train ticket price is also depends on travel length. Per kilometre, charges in Amrit Bharat Express will be low on long routes as compared to short routes. Amrit Bharat Train currently has two classes, Non AC Sleeper and Unserved. An average Patna to New Delhi Amrit Bharat train ticket price will cost around 560 Rupees in the Sleeper class and 280 Rupees in the Unreserved class.
Amrit Bharat Express Timetable
Currently, there is no official announcement about the Amrit Bharat Express timing. The timetable will be released by Indian railways after the train’s successful trial run. Amrit Bharat train timetable will be designed in a way so that the maximum travel time will be at night.
Number of Coaches in Every Amrit Bharat Express Train?
The Amrit Bharat Express is planned to have 22 coaches and 2 locomotives. Among the coaches, there will be 12 for non-AC sleeper class and 8 for the unreserved class. The entire Amrit Bharat train will have seats for 1,800 passengers. Additionally, there will be 2 dedicated coaches for luggage on this train.
