At present, a duo of Vande Bharat Express trains operates, linking MGR Chennai Central to Mysuru and KSR Bengaluru to Dharwad, thus establishing connectivity within Karnataka. With the aim of augmenting the ease for train passengers, the Indian Railways is in the final preparations to introduce the third Vande Bharat Express in Karnataka, creating a connection between Yesvantpur Junction in Banglore, Karnataka and Kacheguda Railway station in Hyderabad, Telangana.
The inaugural Vande Bharat Express for Karnataka was inaugurated on 11 November 2022, marking its maiden journey between Chennai to Mysuru. On April 27 June 2023, the second Vande Bharat Express for Karnataka commenced operations, establishing a link between KSR Bengaluru to Dharwad. The journey of the KSR Bengaluru to Dharwad Vande Bharat Express spans a distance of 490 km, maintaining an average speed of 76 km/h and accomplishing the full route in approximately 6 hours and 25 minutes.
