Diljit Dosanjh’s Satluj movie Removed from ZEE5: Here’s Why the Film Was Taken Down After Release.

Satluj movie, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Arjun Rampal, is directed by Honey Trehan. After waiting for nearly three years, the film was finally released directly on ZEE5 instead of in theatres. However, just two days after its OTT release, the movie was removed from the platform. The film received a positive response from viewers, with many praising its story and performances.
ZEE5 later released an official statement saying that it fully supports the film and is working hard to bring it back to the platform as soon as possible. Reports also claim that the movie was released on ZEE5 under the title Satluj after the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) reportedly asked for more than 120 cuts before granting it permission for a theatrical release.

Diljit Dosanjh Satluj Movie Story
Satluj movie is based on the real-life story of Jaswant Singh Khalra, a well-known human rights activist, and his wife Paramjit Kaur Khalra. The film is set in the mid-1990s, a time when Punjab was recovering from the violence that followed the rise of terrorism after the 1984 period. According to the story, many innocent people were allegedly killed in fake police encounters, and their bodies were secretly cremated after being falsely identified as unclaimed or unidentified.
The story begins when Jaswant Singh Khalra’s friend and his mother suddenly go missing. While searching for them, he uncovers shocking evidence suggesting that more than 25,000 people had allegedly disappeared or were illegally cremated over the previous decade. Despite facing serious risks, Khalra continues his investigation and exposes the truth. The film highlights his courage, determination, and fight for justice, making it a powerful story based on real events.
Why Satluj Movie Get Removed From Zee5?
As of now, there is no official explanation confirming why Satluj was removed from ZEE5 just days after its release. However, several reports suggest that the issue may be related to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). According to media sources, the CBFC had earlier objected to the film’s theatrical release and reportedly asked the makers to make more than 120 cuts before granting certification.
Because of these objections, the film was released directly on ZEE5 instead of in cinemas. After the movie was taken down from the OTT platform, ZEE5 issued an official statement saying, “At ZEE5, we stand firmly by Satluj and the creative vision behind it. We believe powerful storytelling has the ability to inspire, endure, and leave a lasting impact. We remain committed to championing authentic and meaningful narratives.”
When Satluj Movie Will Get Released Again on Zee5
The platform also indicated that it is working to make the film available again, although no official date has been announced. As of now, ZEE5 has not announced a new release date for Satluj in India. The streaming platform has confirmed that the film will remain unavailable until further notice while it works through the ongoing legal and regulatory process.
