Finally, after more than one month of successful trial, Patna Howrah Vande Bharat Train will start on 24 September 2023.
On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, a new Vande Bharat Express train made its debut at the Rajendra Nagar Coaching Terminal in Patna, intended for service on the Howrah-Patna route. The inaugural trial run of this Patna to Howrah Vande Bharat Express train, scheduled to operate on the Patna to Howrah route, successfully took place on August 5, 2023. Subsequently, the train underwent its second trial run on August 12, 2023, marking progress in its preparations for regular service.
The first Patna Vande Bharat Express train commenced operations on June 27, 2023, servicing the route between Patna and Ranchi. The city of Patna has eagerly awaited the arrival of the second Vande Bharat Express train for the past three months, and at long last, that wait has come to an end. Patna Howrah Vande Bharat Train will be the second Vande Bharat Express for Patna and the third Vande Bharat Express for Howrah.
Patna Howrah Vande Bharat Train Route
The Patna Howrah Vande Bharat Express train route spans 535 km from Patna to Howrah, traversing the Patna-Jhajha-Asansol-Howrah railway line, primarily established to link Patna and Howrah. Currently, the fastest train on this route is Intern City Express, which takes around 8 hours to complete a journey between Patna and Howrah, while Vande Bharat will take only 6 hours and 30 minutes to travel the same distance.

The upcoming Patna Howrah Vande Bharat train, which is going to start on Sunday, 24 September 2023, will make stops exclusively at Jasidih and Asansol Junctions between Patna Junction and Howrah Junction. This Vande Bharat Express from Patna will establish the quickest rail link between the capital of Bihar, Patna, and the capital of West Bengal, Kolkata.

Commencing its journey from Patna Junction at 8:00 am, the train reached Howrah by 2:30 pm, covering a total distance of 535 km in about 6 hours and 30 minutes. On the return trip, the train departed from Howrah at 3:55 pm and reached Patna Junction at approximately 10:35 pm.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the Patna Howrah Vande Bharat Train service via Video conferencing from New Delhi on 24 September 2023.
